Preliminary Exercise

We were set a preliminary  task in which we had to produce a 30 second video clip which had to have a match on action shot, a 180 degree shot which had to show characters speaking lines of dialogue.

In our group we had two females exchanging lines of dialogue while sitting across a table opposite each other.  Our plot consisted of two females talking about a dead body of someone who they just murdered. They were asking each other  if they had told anyone about what had just happened and if they knew where this dead body was.

WWW:

In our media production we wanted to give a sense of enigma so that the viewers would be intrigued to find out more about what happens after the scene has ended. i think we were successful in that aspect as we left a great cliff hanger in which a female lifts up the hood of a dead body's face which leads to showing the face and the camera fades out and the clip finishes. We used a range of different shots including a long shot, extreme close up and shot reverse shots. We used a ECL to show match on action when the door was being opened by a character. I also think that we had a good shot under the table so we could see a character move to get of their chair and approach the dead body.

EBI:

It would have been better if less of the background was shown in the 180 degree shots as there would have then been more of an emphasis on the characters, however as the shot showed a lot of the background, it may seem to be a distraction for the viewer as they might start looking at other things rather than the character.

I had predicted that I would be an explorer however according to the questionnaire I am a succeeder. I understand I have some characteristics of both however obviously the characteristics of a succeeder are more dominant.

A succeeder is someone who has strong goal orientation, confidence, work ethic and organisation. Brand choices would be based on reward, prestige and the very best.

Brands that a Succeeder would associate themselves with would be :

Marks & Spencer / Waitrose
Apple / Samsung
David Lloyd / Virgin Active
Ted Baker / Ben Sherman
Bose / Sennheiser
Dior / Prada

Resigned

I thought that this advert would best represent the Resigned as Asda is promoting an economical way for consumers to shop. Also as Asda is a very well known brand, it is likely that consumers will have confidence when shopping their.

Struggler

The Lotto advert suits Strugglers as they base their brand choices on impact and sensation. Even though the possibility of winning the lottery may be high, if they win even a little bit of money it may have an impact on their lives. Also everytime that they buy a lotto ticket they may feel a good sensation.

Mainstreamer

Ford would be a good example of a mainstream brand as it affordable to a large market and also provides a decent amount of consumer satisfaction and quality. This brand would definitely appeal to conventional people as Ford would be considered to be normal in the society of today.

Aspirer

Beats by Dre would suit the group of aspirer's  as they are materialistic and appealing to a large group of young people. They come well packaged and there is a high price for the product even though some of its competitors produce a higher quality product at a lower price.

Succeeder

This would be aimed at succeeder's as they are looking for high quality and prestige products. They also care about their status so they would like to have brands that make themselves look good.

Explorers

Apple Tv would be discovered first by explorers as they would want to try out new things and set trends. They would want to be the first people trying out different platforms of media so they are up to date with the latest fashions in the world.

Reformers

Innocent is a high quality juice drink that is simple and appealing to Reformers. The company is also eco-friendly and this may also appeal to reformers as they are educated and care about the environment.
